Things are good here... Knock on wood .... I have my 5 very special kittys and love each & every one of them more than words can express for they are everything. Each one has their own ways about them and they are a huge part of me. I don't think I will ever stop missing my Salem. He was my love, best friend and my familiar. It has not gotten any easier and maybe it shouldn't. I will never forget Him and don't want to. I have become so paranoid and protective of them. I am sooo afraid that they will get sick and I won't be able to save them. At least one of them sees my vet every month... if they sneeze they see the vet. I keep beating myself up with what ifs... what if I had had Salem tested every year for kidney problems after he turned 8 years old... what if I had had money to get Salem a kidney transplant... could I have saved him... he was worth more than all the money in the world to me . I feel like I failed him !!!! I talked to my Vet last month about having all of my kitties tested each year after they reach a certain age. Maybe... we could control this if any of them show signs of kidney disease.
Bast is the closest kitty that I have to being like Salem. She likes to cuddle... rest on my neck and shoulder... likes to be carried just like Salem did... likes to have me dance around with her in my arms. She is a gift from the Goddess. She picked me !!!!! I think she is Salem as a baby.
Eragon & Hocus Pocus were rescued kitties... brothers... mother is a feral cat...Daddy is a rescued Ragdoll that we named Choctaw... my son now has him. Eragon was near impossible to catch... it took weeks & finally one afternoon he was eating & I just reached down and picked him up.. he never put up a fight when I cuddled him in my arms.. he was 4 weeks old. Hocus Pocus took a couple of weeks extra to catch... but finally !!!!!
Samhain I adopted from my friend Wendy's cat shelter. I was looking for another black cat but that looks different from Salem. After 3 or 4 of visits I decided on him. His owners could not keep him any longer so he was taken to Wendy. He only likes to be petted on his terms and he must approach you !! He has been declawed ( not by me ).
My very special little Bast.. I also adopted her from Wendy. Wendy told me.. I have a cute lil long hair black manx kitty for you to see. I found her curled up under an end table... picked her up.. she cuddled up under my chin and rubbed her lil face against mine and stuck to me like velcro. She picked me !!!!
Tut... I pet set for a girl that works with me. I had him for 2 weeks & then they picked him up. I told the girl that if they could not handle him .. I will take him. Well about 2 weeks later.. he was returned to me. He is a handful with an extreme amount of energy. He gets along fine with the other kitties... but at first .. as soon as I opened the door to the carrier.. he burst out and strutted around with a ... I'm going kick all of your lil asses !!! He tried but only to find out that my big boys that can protect themselves. Bast was submissive so he ignored her.
I pretty much... work my lil part time job across the street..... go to yard sales on Saturday with Y..... watch the grand kids some... and stay home with my kitties. Not much social life anymore but that is fine with me. I love my apartment and the location here in town. I have pretty much all that I want. Stephen still keeps in very close contact with me. He is still at Fort Dix.
